"Platypool is a story that begins in Mougins, on the French Riviera . My father, Jean-Jacques, an inventor at heart and serial entrepreneur, had the idea back in 2005. At the time, he was managing his hotel in the South of France and was spending a crazy amount of time trying to keep the pool clean. The classic skimmer net? Impractical, ineffective, and above all, a real waste of time … In short, a real daily problem. So he came up with a more practical, simpler, and faster solution."
In 2020, during the height of lockdown, I spent a few weeks at my father's house. That's where he introduced me to his latest invention! At first, I admit, I was skeptical: I'd seen my father come up with a ton of wacky inventions. But this time, after testing it in a swimming pool, it clicked. I immediately understood how brilliant the concept was —for both in-ground and above-ground pool owners, as well as for maintenance professionals.
After quite a few tests and prototypes, we participated in the Concours Lépine in 2021 and it was a real success . The visitors can't believe it: for them, it's so obvious that it should have existed forever! And when, in addition, you win two medals… there's no more doubt: you have to go for it.
Platypool was officially launched in 2023. The result: rapid success, driven by ultra-simple use and real efficiency. Already more than 10,000 units sold in France and Europe in 2 years … Proof that our innovation meets a need and really makes a difference.
Today, we remain true to our values: eco-responsibility, innovation, and French manufacturing . Platypool is a sustainable and accessible alternative to the good old-fashioned landing net, while respecting the environment.
In 2025 , a friend told me about "Who Wants to Be My Partner?" on M6. I was already familiar with the show, having watched it several times, but I never imagined I'd actually participate. I finally decided to go for it—and I'm so glad I did. This adventure was an incredibly intense and truly fantastic experience. Discovering what goes on behind the scenes of a show of this scale was fascinating. I was impressed by the professionalism of the entire team, as well as the attention and support I received throughout the process and right up to the big day...
Platypool is designed and manufactured in France, far removed from mass production in China. This choice guarantees ethical and transparent production. Every stage of manufacturing takes place in Alsace, with local partners who respect the environment and working conditions.
Platypool products are manufactured in sheltered workshops (ESATs), employing workers with disabilities, as well as people undergoing social and professional reintegration. This allows individuals often excluded from the job market to regain autonomy and acquire new skills.
This initiative contributes to the integration of refugees, RSA beneficiaries and people with disabilities, while reinforcing social and solidarity values.
